Robert S. (Tex) Small, Jr.
Owner/CEO
Tex formed his real estate development business in 1974, now called AVTEX Commercial Properties, Inc. Through AVTEX and predecessor companies, he has conceived, planned, developed, and managed numerous residential, retail shopping centers, office and industrial properties in the Southeastern United States. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Business Administration from Furman University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.
He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers, and holds real estate broker's licenses in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
He has served on numerous Boards including the Board of Trustees of the College of Charleston, University of South Carolina - Business Partnership Foundation, ETV Endowment, Wachovia Bank (State Board), and Christ Church Episcopal School.
